Following the passing of long time resident Jason, the Commune was prepared to open its doors and arms to a new para in need of shelter. Mimi was contacted by email in early May regarding a young cat who had suffered a fall. Garfield had taken a tumble and fractured two vertebrae, initially leaving him completely paralyzed. With therapy and TLC his inflammation went down and Garfield regained control of his front end but his back legs remain paralyzed leaving him in need of daily bladder expressions, as well as pain medication. His family knew they didn’t have the resources to give Garfield his best life so they reached out to Mimi and Garfield found his new home at Copper’s Cat Commune. 

With all the change in his young life Garfield came to us unsure and full of hisses, but within a few days he’s started settling in and asking for pets (though he’ll still hiss when approached, silly boy). At just under a year old we hope Garfield will be part of the Commune family for many years to come.
