Parker 2012 - Adopted!
Parker
Parker was a tiny 8 week old kitten when she was found, and then brought in as a stray to the vet facility where Mimi worked after she had bitten someone. She was placed in rabies quarantine for 10 days. At the end of her time, she was tested for FeLV & FIV, and came up leukemia positive. Not even 10 weeks old, and she was going to be euthanized. Mimi said no way, and brought her to the Commune! She was scared, but wanted to be loved. We isolated the tiny unnamed girl in our bathroom, and every time we went in there she was hiding somewhere different! One day Mimi couldn’t find her in all the “usual” spots. She had climbed up inside the knee space and into the back of the drawer above and was sound asleep. Being a Leverage fan, this creative and athletic entry into a hidden spot was so reminiscent of the Parker character that kitty’s name was now obvious!
As an adult she is a beautiful girl with a medium length, silky coat, and the most amazingly fluffy tail we have ever seen on a cat! There aren’t nearly enough early picture of her due to all the turmoil we had going on at the time of her adoption. We got quite a few of young adult Parker, and then something happened. We don’t know what it was, but we assume one of the other cats took a disliking to her. She started hiding, trying to get back into the bathroom, and just really being unhappy out in the general population. We moved her into Matt’s office where she started to thrive again. After a while, we tried her in general population, and all was well again. Parker was retested for FeLV as an adult and came up negative! She was almost euthanized before her body had a chance to successfully throw off the virus.
Early in 2024 the parent of a Commune supporter was looking for a sweet companion cat for a single cat home. Parker was adopted and continues to live her best life in her forever home!
